MGO – Metal Gear Online – Beta due for Europe [UPDATE]

Eurogamer have an article stating that Konami have told them that…

“it will be announcing its European Metal Gear Online beta plans “shortly”.”

When this will happen is anyone’s guess and with Metal Gear Solid 4 scheduled for a June 12th release and Japanese/American beta testing of Metal Gear Online starting this month it shouldn’t be long to wait.

UPDATE:

Konami have confirmed that the beta is due for Europe and will feature on the first update of the newly designed PSN store.
Also the MGO beta appears be an ‘open’ so anyone can download the client and play. Unlucky for the US and Japan who had to pay for the privilege.

Metal Gear Online Premiere Beta will be available as a free download on the PLAYSTATION® Store from April 17th (12:00 CEST) until May 6th (10:00 CEST).

The beta phase features two maps, four gameplay modes, the SOP System that encourages up to 16 players to team up and share information, and deep skill-customization. Also equipped with auto-matching and training modes, the game offers players a sneak peak of this totally new approach to console-based competitive gaming.

The Premiere Beta of Metal Gear Online starts on April 21st (00:00 CEST) and ends on May 6th (24:00 CEST).

Metal Gear Online will be included with Metal Gear Solid 4, which will be released on June 12, 2008.

Metal Gear Online will launch as part of Guns of the Patriots in June as a Starter Pack, comprising five unique stages: “Ambush Alley,” “Blood Bath,” “Groznyi Grad,” “Midtown Maelstrom,” and the rooftop settings of “Urban Ultimatum.” Konami is committed to the release of additional Expansion Packs to be released throughout the year.
